چکیده
genic leucocytes from donor blood are responsible for serious untoward effects in some transfused patients such as alloimmunization, febrile reactions, platelet refractoriness, transfusion associated acute lung injury, immunosuppression as well as transmission or reactivation of viruses such as CMV, HTLV or EBV. Leucocytes are also known to accelerate the rate of storage lesion. The optimal method to remove leucocytes from blood components has been shown to be ®ltration. However, many variables exist in the properties of leuco-depletion ®lters (material, composition, surface charge, mechanisms of leucocyte entrapment), the blood components to be ®ltered (composition, age), and the ®ltration method (preor post-storage, priming and rinsing, temperature, ̄ow rate). In this paper principles of ®ltration and subsequent logistic consequences will be discussed. It is recommended to carefully select a ®lter for a speci®c blood component and to perform leuco-depletion procedures under controlled conditions according to validated methods meeting Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Good Laboratory Practice (GLP). # 1998 Elsevier Science Ltd. Fundamental solutions to a generalized Helmholtz equation are determined through dependent variable transforms using the material properties and independent variable transforms based on conformal mapping. This allows variable wave speed media to be examined under some fairly broad material property constraints. q 2000 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
متن کاملRemoving artifacts from electrocardiographic signals using independent components analysis
In this work, we deal with the elimination of artifacts (electrodes, muscle, respiration, etc.) from the electrocardiographic (ECG) signal. We use a new tool called independent component analysis (ICA) that blindly separates mixed statistically independent signals. ICA can separate the signal from the interference, even if both overlap in frequency. In order to estimate the mixing parameters in...

In this work, a boundary element model of an underwater landslide is developed. Careful gridding and time stepping techniques are demonstrated that produce highly accurate simulation results based on conservation of volume. A sensitivity analysis shows how to optimize simulation accuracy. The general techniques demonstrated herein are applicable to arbitrary moving submerged bodies. q 1999 Else...
متن کاملAn Open Framework for Collaborative Distributed Information Management
The MEMOIR project supports researchers working with a vast quantity of distributed information, by assisting them in finding both relevant documents and researchers with related interests. It is an open architecture based on the existing Web infrastructure. Key to the architecture is the use of proxies: to support message routing for dynamic reconfiguration and extension of the system, to coll...
